Terms of Service

You must be at least 13 years old to use Fukidashi. If you are under 18, you represent that you have obtained parental consent to use our service.

You may access Fukidashi by signing in with your Google account using OAuth. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You agree to notify us immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

You agree to provide accurate, current, and complete information during the registration process and maintain the accuracy of this information.

All content, features, and functionality of Fukidashi—including but not limited to software, code, design, graphics, and text—are the exclusive property of Fukidashi or its licensors and are protected by international copyright, trademark, and other intellectual property laws.

You retain all rights to any manga images or text you capture and store within the application. Your locally stored data (manga images, vocabulary lists, flashcards, etc.) is entirely your property. We do not claim ownership of your user-generated content.

We grant you a non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use Fukidashi solely for your personal, non-commercial learning purposes. You may not modify, reproduce, distribute, display, or transmit the application or its contents without our express written permission.

You agree not to use Fukidashi for any unlawful purpose or in any way that infringes upon the rights of others or restricts their use and enjoyment of the application. Specifically, you agree not to:

• Use the service to scan, upload, or process any copyright-protected manga without proper authorization
• Attempt to bypass, reverse-engineer, or circumvent any technical protections or security measures
• Use the service to harass, threaten, abuse, or harm any person or entity
• Intentionally disrupt or degrade the service or its servers
• Remove, obscure, or alter any proprietary notices or labels on the service
• Use any automated tools, bots, or scripts to access or interact with the service
• Share your account with others or allow others to use your account
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any restricted areas of the service
• Collect or harvest personal information about other users without consent
• Upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code

Fukidashi operates on a credit-based system. Each action within the app consumes a specific number of credits:

• Manga bubble scan: 10 credits
• AI chat message: 1 credit
• Game sentence generation: 1 credit
• Text-to-speech: Free (no credit cost)
• Retranslation: Free (no credit cost, subject to a monthly usage limit)

We offer the following subscription options:

• Free Plan: 150 credits per month, resets monthly
• Pro Plan ($4.99/month): 1,500 credits per month, resets monthly
• S-Tier Plan ($9.99/month): 5,000 credits per month, resets monthly

Prices and available plans are subject to change at our discretion with notice.

All subscription purchases are processed through Google Play Billing. You authorize Google to charge your payment method for your subscription at the frequency and price stated at the time of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically unless you cancel them through your Google Play account settings.

Credits are non-transferable, non-refundable, and have no cash value. Unused credits do not roll over between billing periods. Upon subscription cancellation, any remaining credits are forfeited.

We reserve the right to change our subscription prices. We will notify you of any price changes at least 30 days in advance. Your continued use of the service after a price change notification constitutes acceptance of the new price.

Manga content used with Fukidashi is subject to copyright protection. You are responsible for ensuring you have the legal right to scan and process any manga you use with our service. We do not condone copyright infringement, and the primary intended use of Fukidashi is with manga you own or have legal access to.

To the maximum extent permitted by law:

• Fukidashi is provided on an "AS IS" and "AS AVAILABLE" basis without warranties of any kind, express or implied
• We disclaim all warranties, including merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement
• We are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use Fukidashi
• Our total liability to you for any claim arising from these Terms shall not exceed the amount you paid (if any) for your subscription in the 12 months preceding the claim
• Some jurisdictions do not allow limitations of liability, so some of these restrictions may not apply to you

While we strive to provide accurate OCR and translations, AI-generated content is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. We recommend using Fukidashi as a learning aid alongside other language resources. You rely on AI translations and OCR results at your own risk.

We do not guarantee that Fukidashi will be uninterrupted or error-free. We are not liable for any downtime or service interruptions.

While we implement reasonable security measures on our servers, we are not responsible for loss, corruption, or unauthorized access to your locally stored data. We recommend regularly backing up important information.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Fukidashi and its officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising from:

• Your violation of these Terms
• Your use of Fukidashi
• Your violation of any law or third-party rights
• Any user-generated content or data you provide

Fukidashi uses third-party services including OpenAI for AI processing (OCR, translation, chat, and text-to-speech), Google for authentication, billing, AI processing (Gemini API), and optional cloud backup (Google Drive), and Sentry for error tracking and performance monitoring. These services are subject to their own terms of service and privacy policies. We are not responsible for the performance, reliability, or policies of third-party services. See our Privacy Policy for details on how each service handles your data.

Fukidashi may contain links to external websites. We are not responsible for the content, accuracy, or practices of these websites. Your use of external links is at your own risk and subject to those websites' terms and conditions.

You may stop using Fukidashi at any time by uninstalling the application. Note that uninstalling only removes locally stored data from your device; your server-side account remains active. To delete your account and associated server-side data, you must use the in-app account deletion feature or contact our support team. See our Account Deletion Guide for details.

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account and access to Fukidashi at any time, with or without cause, and with or without notice. Reasons for termination may include:

• Violation of these Terms
• Unlawful or fraudulent activity
• Abuse of our service or systems
• Infringement of intellectual property rights

Upon termination, your right to use Fukidashi immediately ceases. Your data stored locally on your device will remain on your device unless you delete it. Any data you have provided to our servers may be retained as described in our Privacy Policy.

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue Fukidashi or any feature thereof at any time. We are not liable to you or any third party for any modification, suspension, or discontinuation of the service.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the jurisdiction in which Fukidashi operates, without regard to its conflict of law principles. You agree to submit to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts in that location for any disputes arising from these Terms.

Any legal action or proceeding relating to these Terms must be commenced within one year after the cause of action arises, or else such cause of action shall be permanently barred.

If any provision of these Terms is held to be invalid or unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect, and the invalid provision shall be modified to the minimum extent necessary to make it valid and enforceable.

These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy and Account Deletion Guide, constitute the entire agreement between you and Fukidashi regarding your use of the service and supersede all prior agreements and understandings. If there is any conflict between these Terms and the Privacy Policy, these Terms shall govern with respect to service usage, while the Privacy Policy shall govern with respect to data handling.

Our failure to enforce any right or provision of these Terms shall not constitute a waiver of that right or provision. Any waiver must be in writing and signed by an authorized representative of Fukidashi.

Your continued use of Fukidashi after any updates constitutes your acceptance of the updated Terms.
