Account Deletion

This page explains how to delete your Fukidashi account and what happens to your data when you do.
What Happens to Your Data
When you delete your account, your data is anonymized, not completely deleted. Here's what happens:
Data That Is Anonymized:
- Email Address: Replaced with a placeholder (e.g., "[email protected]")
- Google Account ID: Replaced with a numeric identifier
- Payment Tokens: Subscription purchase tokens are removed
Data That Remains (in Anonymized Form):
- Usage Metadata: Records of when you used scan and chat features (timestamps, counts, token usage, costs) remain in our database, but are no longer linked to your identity. Note: We do NOT store your actual scan images, OCR results, translations, or chat messages on our servers - those only exist on your device.
- Credit Usage: Monthly and daily credit counters remain in the system
- API Costs: Lifetime, monthly, and yearly API cost tracking remains
- Account Record: Your account entry remains in our database with anonymized information
Data That Is Deleted:
- Local App Data: All data stored on your device (scanned images, OCR text, translations, vocabulary lists, flashcards, chat messages, manga volumes) is deleted only when you uninstall the app
Grace Period
After you request account deletion, your account enters a grace period before permanent anonymization:
- Free Tier: 30 days
- Pro/S-Tier: 1 week minimum OR your remaining subscription time, whichever is longer
During this grace period, you can still use the app normally with your current subscription tier and benefits. You can cancel the deletion request at any time. After the grace period ends, all personal identifiers (such as your email address and Google ID) are permanently replaced with anonymous placeholders. No mapping between deleted and anonymized data is retained, so recovery is impossible.
Example: If you have 3 days left on your Pro subscription, you'll get a 1-week grace period. If you have 2 months left, you'll get 2 months.
Subscription Cancellation
If you have an active subscription (Pro or S-Tier), your Google Play subscription is cancelled when your account is anonymized at the end of the grace period. Your subscription will continue on its original schedule during the grace period.
How it works:
- Your subscription continues until its natural expiration date during the grace period
- You retain all paid subscription benefits until expiration
- If your grace period is longer than your remaining subscription time, you'll continue on the free tier until the grace period ends
- Your Google Play subscription is fully cancelled when your account is anonymized at the end of the grace period
Example: If you have 2 days left on your Pro subscription when you request deletion:
- Grace period: 7 days (1 week minimum)
- Days 1-2: Pro tier benefits
- Days 3-7: Free tier (150 credits/month)
- Day 7: Account anonymized
Note: You can cancel the deletion request at any time during the grace period to keep your account and subscription.
How to Delete Your Account
In-App Deletion (Recommended)
The easiest way to delete your account is through the Fukidashi mobile app:
- Open the Fukidashi app
- Navigate to Settings (gear icon in the top right)
- Scroll down to the Account section
- Tap Delete Account
- Read the warning message carefully
- Type "DELETE" to confirm
- Tap the confirmation button
You will see a banner showing the countdown until permanent anonymization. You can cancel the deletion at any time during the grace period by tapping the "Cancel Deletion" button in the banner.

Important: You must contact us from the email address linked to your Fukidashi account for security verification. We will process your deletion request manually once verified.
Data Retention After Anonymization
After the grace period ends, your account is permanently anonymized (not deleted). Here's what remains in our database:
Anonymized Data (Retained Indefinitely):
- Account Record: Your account entry remains in our database with anonymized identifiers (e.g., "[email protected]")
- Usage Statistics: All scan history, chat history, and API usage records remain permanently in anonymized form for analytical and operational purposes
- Credit Counters: Monthly and daily credit usage records remain in the system
- API Cost Tracking: Lifetime, monthly, and yearly API cost data remains in the system
Why We Retain Anonymized Data:
We retain anonymized usage data to maintain system integrity, prevent abuse, and improve our services. This data cannot be linked back to you after anonymization.
Local Device Data:
- All data on your device (scanned images, OCR text, translations, vocabulary lists, flashcards, chat messages, manga volumes) is deleted when you uninstall the app
